Scripture text: Mark 7: 1-23        Preacher: Rev David Sutherland         Date: 28 September 2014 (Evening)

Following on from a study of Islam two weeks ago, the topic of this sermon is Judaism. After a brief survey of the three main streams of contemporary Jewish religion this study concentrates on Orthodox Judaism, with its acceptance of both the written and the oral Torah. The five principal objects of trust on which Orthodox Jews depend are considered, and reasons given why that trust is misplaced. Prayer is urged for Christian evangelists carrying the Word of Christ to the Jewish community, and for those who have responded to that Word. Finally, attention is directed towards the greatest Jew of all, the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the true object of salvation.
