Scripture text: Romans 5:12-21 Preacher: Rev. David Sutherland Date: 24 April 2016
Our studies in the Letter to the Romans continue. In the second part of Chapter 5 Paul returns to the topic of universal sinfulness.
The sermon, after exploring the cause of universal sinfulness, and the indisputable evidence of its existence, contrasts two personal acts: one of disobedience on the part of Adam, which plunged mankind into a state of habitual sin, and the other of unremitting obedience and righteousness on the part of Jesus, which delivered from the power and penalty of sin all those who put their trust in him. In closing the sermon emphasises the assurance of salvation which the Christian will find in this portion of scripture.
