Scripture text: Mark 14: 17 – 31              Preacher: Rev. David Sutherland            Date: 16 November 2014

Our continuing study of Mark’s account of the greatest day in the history of the human race, which has progressed chronologically up to this point, now takes a step back to the opening three hours of that day. The periods of crucifixion, darkness and burial, already considered in the earlier stages of our study, were preceded by three hours in which Christ gave to His church.

This fourth sermon of the series reflects on the nature of Christ’s giving at that first Communion and the response of His church, represented by the twelve disciples then present. The conclusion is reached that our proper motivation for giving to others is that Christ has given so abundantly to us.
