Scripture text: James 1:5-11 Preacher: Rev. David Sutherland Date: 15 November 2015
This sermon continues the series of studies in the letter written by James the brother of Jesus, in about the year 50 AD, to Jewish Christians dispersed throughout the Gentile nations surrounding the Mediterranean. As his opening topic James dealt with the matter of trials of various kinds (highly relevant to his contemporary readers), and he identified two characteristics to be desired in Christians who are going through times of trial — joy and wisdom. The first sermon in this series concentrated on joy: this week the focus shifts to wisdom.
